Beyond the neck: holistic healing at Exactus

Neck Pain

Neck pain is a multifaceted problem influenced by various factors. At Exactus Rehab and Performance, we conduct a comprehensive assessment that evaluates not only the neck itself but also the function of areas beyond it.

If you present to our clinic with neck pain, we assess:

Neck Mobility, Movement and Strength

  • Limited neck mobility and suboptimal movement patterns have been linked to neck pain
  • Reduced neck strength, especially in the deep cervical flexors and extensors, has been observed in individuals with neck pain
  • Neck strengthening and motor control (movement) exercises have been shown to reduce neck pain

Upper and Mid-Back Mobility

  • Restricted upper and mid-back mobility has been observed in individuals with neck pain
  • Upper and mid-back mobilisation exercises have demonstrated effectiveness in reducing neck pain and increasing neck mobility

Upper and Mid-Back Strength

  • Individuals with neck pain have demonstrated reduced strength in various upper and mid-back muscles, as well as a delay in their activation when performing functional movements
  • Resistance exercises focusing on strengthening and activating these muscles have been shown to reduce neck pain and enhance function

In addition to assessing these key areas, we investigate additional evidence-based factors that could contribute to neck pain.
